Last week, 23,000 IT professionals attended one of the most important Microsoft conferences – the Microsoft Ignite in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Attendees were able to learn about some of the latest breakthroughs in security, intelligence and the cloud — the digital infrastructure that will lead to limitless scale and unimaginable potential to innovate.
Microsoft announced solutions and news that spanned areas like security, intelligence and the cloud platform. Of course, also Unified Communications was one of the key topics along with the above. Gurdeep Singh Pall and Zig Serafin – both Vice Presidents and leaders in the Skype and Skype for Business team at Microsoft, shared many important highlights and updates for the Skype and Skype for Business during their keynotes.
One of the biggest announcements was the addition of the long-awaited auto attendant features to Skype for Business PSTN & PBX. Starting in November, businesses will have the ability to preview automated directory services to help callers find the department or employee they are trying to reach. This addition will likely make the service an attractive option for businesses with a larger number of users spread among many departments.
SfB Call Queue
Skype for Business will also be updated with an equally anticipated Call Queue feature, that can automatically put incoming calls on hold, should users be unavailable to answer. This feature will be of particular benefit to businesses that receive large volumes of calls, such as smaller teams or customer service departments. Call queue will enter preview alongside auto attendant within the next month.
Next to Unified Communications we also received some additional announcements in the Azure space. One of them was that Adobe will deliver its cloud services on Microsoft Azure. Overall, several new Azure networking services and features have been announced to provide customers greater performance, higher availability, better security and more operational insights.
Verba @ Ignite
Next to all the announcements from Microsoft, hundreds of business partners in the areas of ISV, infrastructure, carrier-partner were present at the exhibition and booth area at the Atlanta Convention Center. Verba was also present and engaged with Microsoft, strategic business partners and many customers about our recording and compliance solution for Skype for Business and the recent announcement of Verba 8.8. Words of Wisdom
Back to the conference – Satya Nadella, Chief Executive Officer Microsoft, closed the first day with his impressive Innovation Keynote, a must-see presentation, focused on next generation innovations and investments that are fundamental to shaping IT in the foreseeable future.
