Verba welcomes Ken Willoughby who recently joined us! Ken has recently appointed to the role of Consultant Systems Engineer, where part of his role will consist of supporting pre-sales, trouble-shooting and systems installations.
Recently Ken visited the Research and Development team in Budapest, Hungary, for training and development. It certainly turned out to be a memorable trip which not only left a lasting impression on Ken but it also seems that he left a lasting impression in Hungary too!
He felt the experience in Hungary was beneficial, ‘I spent some good quality time with the team. It certainly enhanced my work. I like putting a face to a name, there’s no replacement for a certain amount of team-building and human interaction. I shadowed other members of the team and learnt a great deal from them.’
Outside office hours, Ken managed to soak up some of sights of Budapest. He visited a Hungarian Steakhouse, ‘Pampas’ and went to the shopping district in the city. Ken recalls a funny episode of when he popped into a souvenir shop, ‘I was picking up souvenirs for family and friends, this young gentleman stopped me and said ‘excuse me sir, where are you from?’ I replied ‘Texas’ and he responded ‘I thought so!’ ‘He just stood there and listened to me speak for about five minutes because he thought my accent was hilarious! He loved it!’ It appears that Keith was somewhat of a novelty out in Hungary! When Ken realised that the man was having a good time with it all, Ken laid on on the accent with a Texas twang and stated ‘ Hey y’all! You’ll need to pop over to the US and let me show you a good time!’ Ken certainly had fun with it! It seems that Ken himself became a bit of a tourist attraction himself!
Ken is certainly enthusiastic about his position, ‘part of my role is to help build the customer base and this is something I am very excited about. This is the perfect role for me. I get to do some hands on work, troubleshooting and pre-sales.’ Ken is also excited about the future possibilities for Verba, ‘we have some great opportunities coming up and by bringing in new partners, not only does this helps the company to grow, it also helps us with the vision of the company.’
Budapest has certainly left a lasting impression on Ken and he is looking forward to returning soon and spending some more quality time in the Hungarian capital, ‘ I loved Budpaest, it was great spending time there and getting to know the city.’ It proved to be an enlightening experience!”
Verba are delighted to have Ken on board!
